The French Room — Menu Guide
By Firoz Khan · FK Digital Media
The French Room is the 1912 architectural landmark inside The Adolphus hotel — a room that held AAA Five Diamond status for 25+ consecutive years and was long the formal tasting-menu destination of Texas. Important change for 2026: per D Magazine (February 2026), the grand dining room is now used only for tea service — the formal tasting-menu restaurant is not operating as such. What you'll find today is afternoon tea in the landmark room plus The French Room Bar, serving a modern-French dinner menu Monday through Saturday. This guide covers what's actually on offer now, with prices dated honestly. Everything is written in our own words.

What we'd order
- The classic experience: afternoon tea ($75) — it's the reason the room exists in its current form, under the twin Murano chandeliers from the 2017 restoration.
- The splurge: add the Petrossian caviar service to tea.
- Evening: Steak Frites ($39, 2024-era price) at the Bar — the most French Room dish on the bar menu.
- The value play: French Onion Soup ($16) and Truffle Fries ($12) at the Bar.
Planning your visit
- Set expectations: come for tea or the bar — the white-tablecloth tasting-menu era is over (as of 2026 reporting).
- Tea timing: last seating is 3:00 PM Mon–Thu and 4:30 PM Fri–Sun — book the earlier slot for the fullest experience.
- The room itself: opened 1912, restored over 16 months and reopened October 2017 — the architecture is half the draw.
- Pair it: Dean Fearing's Fearing's at the Ritz-Carlton is the other essential Dallas hotel dining room.
