La Plazuela — Menu Guide

La Plazuela is the signature dining room of La Fonda on the Plaza at 100 E San Francisco Street — Santa Fe's landmark hotel right on the Plaza. The room is built around a sunlit courtyard with a fountain and wrought-iron chandelier, and the cooking under executive chef Lane Warner is classic Southwestern and contemporary Mexican: tableside guacamole, red-chile bisque, enchiladas, and chile rellenos. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served daily. Everything is written in our own words.

Signature dishes

The dishes guests keep naming in reviews:

  • Tableside guacamole: made to order at the table — the dish the room is known for.
  • Lobster red chile bisque: the signature soup.
  • Spare ribs with green chile glaze: a house staple.
  • Shredded beef enchiladas: the classic plate.
  • Hatch chile relleno: ask for it "Christmas" style (red and green).
  • Huevos rancheros: the breakfast order.
  • Sopaipillas: the obligatory finish.
  • Prickly pear margarita: the cocktail to start with.

Reported prices

La Plazuela publishes no itemized menu prices for its regular menu — OpenTable lists a typical band of $31–$50 per person (September 2026). The only published figures are special events:

  • Thanksgiving prix fixe: $94 per person, November 26, 2026 (OpenTable Experiences listing).
  • Duckhorn 50th Anniversary wine dinner: $249 per person, September 23, 2026 (one-night event).

What we'd order

If we had one dinner here, this is how we'd play it:

  • Start with: the tableside guacamole — it's the ritual.
  • The soup: the lobster red chile bisque.
  • The plate: the spare ribs with green chile glaze, or the Hatch chile relleno Christmas-style.
  • Finish: sopaipillas — non-negotiable.

Planning your visit

  • Book on OpenTable — the venue page is live and heavily booked — or call 505-995-2334.
  • No published prices: the regular menu carries no itemized prices online; budget around the $31–$50 band and confirm when you book.
  • The room is the show: the courtyard fountain and lighted trees make even a simple plate feel like an occasion — ask for a courtyard table.
  • Holiday note: the Thanksgiving prix fixe sells out; it was listed at $94 for 2026.
