Julia — Menu Guide

Julia — A Spirited Restaurant & Bar is the dining room of La Posada de Santa Fe at 330 East Palace Avenue, set inside the 1882 Victorian mansion of Julia Staab herself. Chef Edgar Jiminez cooks polished Southwestern-American comfort food — duck breast, seared scallops, chicken corn chowder — with a full bar pouring the Juliarita margarita, made with apricots from a tree Julia planted in the 1880s. The restaurant publishes no menu prices; everything is written in our own words.

Signature dishes

The dishes guests keep naming in recent reviews:

  • Chicken corn chowder: the recurring guest favorite, still on the current menu per OpenTable (Sep 2026).
  • Duck breast special: called "as good as anything I have eaten in France" in an August 2026 verified review.
  • Seared scallops: with bread-and-butters, praised in August 2026 reviews.
  • Beet salad and caramel cheesecake: the lighter and sweeter anchors (Aug 2026 reviews).
  • The Juliarita margarita: tequila infused with homemade apricot liqueur from apricots off Julia Staab's own 1880s tree.

Reported prices

Julia publishes no menu prices — OpenTable lists a typical band of $31–$50 per person (September 2026). The only published figure is a one-time event:

  • Vara Wine Dinner: $150 per person including tax and gratuity, September 24, 2026 (one-night event).

What we'd order

If we had one dinner here, this is how we'd play it:

  • Start with: the chicken corn chowder — it's the dish regulars name.
  • The plate: the duck breast special if it's on.
  • The drink: the Juliarita — the apricot story is worth the order.
  • Finish: the caramel cheesecake.

Planning your visit

  • Dinner only, evenings: the restaurant serves breakfast and dinner daily — no lunch service.
  • No published prices: budget around the $31–$50 band and confirm when you book.
  • The mansion is the draw: La Posada's adobe grounds and the Staab House bar next door make this a full evening — plan a pre-dinner drink.
  • First Wednesdays: live Spanish guitar in the bar.
